The Art Of

A stenciled image of iconic 80's punk singer, Blondie dominates the foreground. Behind her is a reproduction of a Japanese print which shows Geishas painting on silk; this image is applied over layers of old advertisements. The work recalls the urban beauty of decaying layers of pasted advertisements and graffiti on city walls and the punk scene which identified with this outsider art. The title suggests that we consider art of seduction, of fine arts and of advertising and how they often work simultaneously in a barrage of simulation.
